Kumanovo municipal HQ calls to unblock and tighten surveillance at Krasta landfill
Municipal headquarters approved security upgrades, police coordination and a community eco‑patrol to restore uninterrupted waste disposal to the Krasta site.

The municipal civil protection headquarters in Kumanovo held a meeting to review the current situation at the Krasta landfill with representatives from the competent institutions, public utilities, health services and the municipal administration.
Participants agreed on a set of measures aimed at unblocking the site and ensuring uninterrupted disposal of the town’s waste. Planned actions include continuous treatment of deposited waste with soil and construction material, strengthened physical security, installation of additional video and thermal‑imaging cameras, and repair of the damaged protective fence.
The Ministry of Interior – Regional Police Department (SVR) Kumanovo was asked to coordinate opening a corridor to the landfill so collection trucks can reach the site, while the Center for Public Health must prepare information and guidance to prevent possible consequences from irregular collection and disposal of waste.
Local eco‑patrol and weekly monitoring
The director of the municipal public enterprise Public Enterprise "Chistota i zelenilo" was tasked, in cooperation with local residents, to form an eco‑patrol including representatives of the local communities and non‑governmental organisations from the villages Pchinja, Studena Bara, Vak'v and Vince. The group will carry out weekly monitoring of the Krasta landfill.
Officials said the combined measures are intended to secure access to the site and reduce health and environmental risks while normal collection and disposal operations resume.
