Eight injured in Russian drone strike on Kyiv

Eight people were injured in a Russian drone strike on Kyiv overnight, the city police reported. The attack damaged a nine-storey residential building in the Dniprovski district and sparked a fire that spread from the first to the fifth floor.

The police said a 64-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman suffered burns and were taken to hospital. A 23-year-old woman sustained a shrapnel wound.

Five other people received medical assistance at the scene and did not require hospitalization, authorities added.

Air force response and wider pattern of attacks

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that its forces neutralized 138 Russian targets overnight to Friday, while attacks were registered at 19 locations. The statement framed the Kyiv incident as one of multiple strikes during the same night.

Local emergency teams worked to extinguish the blaze in the apartment block and to secure the damaged area, police said, as investigations into the circumstances of the strike continue.
