Raffaele Palladino named Bologna coach, signs until 2029

Raffaele Palladino is the new head coach of Bologna, the club announced on 16 September 2026. He arrives after mutually terminating his contract with Atalanta and has signed with Bologna through 2029.

Change after poor start

Palladino replaces Domeniko Tenedesko, who was dismissed following a disappointing start to the season. The decision to bring in Palladino was taken with the aim of steadying the team as Serie A enters a busy period.

Before his brief spell at Atalanta, Palladino had managerial stints with Monza and Fiorentina. Bologna expect him to bring experience from his previous roles as they try to improve results.

His first match in charge will take place on Saturday at home against Torino, a fixture scheduled before the upcoming international break. The club confirmed that Palladino’s appointment is intended to provide a quick boost ahead of that game.

The move is one of several coaching changes in Serie A this season; earlier this month Fiorentina dismissed Fabio Grosso and reinstated Paolo Vanoli as manager.

Bologna have set a long-term contract until 2029 for Palladino, signalling that the club wants continuity while it searches for better form in the league.
