Palestine set a FIBA record for the most points scored by a team in a single game, routing the Maldives 168–78 on August 31, 2026, in a match played as part of the Asian Cup 2029 pre-qualifiers.
The Palestinian side exploded early, scoring 47 points in the opening quarter and reaching 84 points by halftime. They kept the pressure through the second half, adding 41 in the third and 43 in the fourth to close out the record total.
Team depth and balance fuel historic output
Ten Palestinian players finished with double-digit point totals, underscoring the roster’s balance and depth. Leading the scorers was Tamer Habash with 22 points, five rebounds and three assists. Mohamed Abushamsia and Omar Suleiman each contributed 18 points.
Beyond the individual numbers, the game set additional marks: the combined scoring by both teams reached 246 points, establishing a new high for Asian Cup qualifying matches, and Palestine recorded their largest-ever victory in this qualifying competition with a 90-point margin.
