João Palhinha set to leave Bayern Munich for Benfica
Benfica have reportedly agreed a €14m plus €5m deal with Bayern Munich for the midfielder; clubs aim to formalise within 24 hours.

João Palhinha appears set to leave Bayern Munich and join Benfica, according to transfer reports first published on 20.08.2026 21:30.
Insider Fabrizio Romano says Benfica and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement for the midfielder’s move for €14 million, plus a further €5 million in add-ons. Palhinha has agreed personal terms, and the two clubs are expected to formalise the deal within the next 24 hours.
From Tottenham loan to a move to Lisbon
Palhinha spent last season on loan at Tottenham and now looks likely to return to the Portuguese league, this time to Benfica and the Portuguese capital, Lisbon.
If completed, the transfer would bring the midfielder back to Portugal and strengthen Benfica’s options in central midfield while ending his spell with the German champions.
The clubs are reported to be handling the final paperwork; supporters and observers should expect an official announcement once those formalities are complete.
