Belgrade baker Radivoje (73) murdered — two women and one man detained

A well-known local baker, Radivoje (73) from the Karaburma neighbourhood of Belgrade, was the victim of a violent homicide, investigators say, overturning earlier assumptions that he had died of natural causes or during a private encounter.

Arrests and charges after police operation in Subotica

The Criminal Police Directorate and the Police Department for the City of Belgrade detained three suspects — two women and one man — following an extensive operation in Subotica. Authorities say the three are responsible for the attack in the victim’s home.

According to the ongoing investigation led by the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, the suspects stripped Radivoje naked, bound him and inflicted severe torture that resulted in his death. The killing has been described by investigators as brutal.

After the murder the perpetrators reportedly searched the apartment and stole a substantial amount of cash and other valuables. Police allege the suspects fled toward northern Serbia; officers recovered part of the stolen money during the arrest in Subotica.

The detained individuals are currently undergoing criminal processing. Prosecutors are preparing charges for murder; investigators continue working to establish each suspect’s specific role in the crime and whether others were involved.

The case has drawn sharp public attention because of the violent circumstances and the victim’s local profile. Authorities have not released further personal details while the probe remains active.
