Pelister host La Rioja in Bitola — Červar expects strong home support

On Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 20:45 local time in Bitola, Pelister will host La Rioja in the first round of the EHF European League. The match marks the club's return to European League competition after several seasons competing in the Champions League.

Pelister's head coach, Lino Červar, warned that preparation and focus will decide the outcome and praised the Spanish handball tradition represented by La Rioja.
“We must prepare well. I highly respect Spanish handball. La Rioja is a club I have played against before and it has a great tradition. Hard work awaits us and the players must be ready,” Červar said, adding that the team's defence will be decisive.
Červar continued: “Defense is particularly important. When a team plays good defense, it has a much better chance to win the match. This is our first game this year in the European League, and people expect a lot from us. I am very pleased with the atmosphere among the players and I expect a large crowd. The supporters are very connected to our club. No Pelister success would be possible without the passion for victory that gives additional energy. That is why I believe in my team.”
Pelister will look to use home advantage and the support of local fans in Bitola as they face a well-established Spanish side in what promises to be a tough opener in the European campaign.
