15-year-old detained in Skopje after driving without a licence

A 15-year-old from Skopje was detained after police discovered he was driving a car without holding a licence, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

The stop took place on July 31, 2026 at about 1:10 a.m. on Gjorgji Kapchev Street in Skopje. Officers from the Skopje Police Directorate (SVR Skopje) halted a passenger vehicle with Skopje licence plates and, during checks, determined the driver was a 15-year-old who had not obtained the right to operate a motor vehicle.

Procedures and next steps

The public prosecutor for minors has been notified. Police said that after the case is fully documented, an appropriate charge will be filed.

The authorities emphasized that the incident is now subject to formal proceedings under the laws that regulate juvenile offenders and traffic offences, and the investigative actions will continue until documentation is complete.

No further personal details about the minor were released. The police continue routine traffic controls aimed at preventing unlicensed driving and other traffic violations.
