Peugeot parked across pedestrian crossing in Aerodrom, residents outraged

Photos sent to our newsroom show a Peugeot with Skopje licence plates parked across a pedestrian crossing in the Aerodrom neighbourhood, blocking the path residents use to move between apartment blocks and the parking area.

The vehicle is positioned transversely, occupying the entrance to the walkway and forcing pedestrians — including parents with strollers and older residents — to skirt around it via lawns or by walking behind parked cars.

Residents say the practice has become routine

Neighbourhood anger is evident in the images: the car’s front windshield wipers have been lifted, a commonly used informal warning in Skopje when drivers block pedestrian routes. The photographs were supplied by an annoyed reader who encounters traffic disorder in the area daily.

“We face these problems every day, but this is the height of rudeness. The path is for pedestrians, not parking. It is really sad that some people do not show even a shred of consideration for their neighbours,” the reader wrote.

Residents are calling on traffic authorities and the tow-truck service to respond more frequently and sanction offenders, saying such behaviour has become an everyday problem in Skopje.
