Young keyboardist Slaven Ilić of MIX BAND dies in traffic accident
The 22-year-old musician died in a road crash on the Zvornik–Milići route on 28 August; bandmates described him as 'the heart and soul' of MIX BAND.
Slaven Ilić, a 22-year-old keyboardist and member of the popular Serbian group MIX BAND, died after a serious traffic accident on the Zvornik–Milići road on 28 August. The news of his sudden death shocked fans, friends and the musicians with whom he shared stages across the region.
Bandmates: "He was the heart and soul of our band"
In an emotional post on social media, members of MIX BAND emphasized that they had lost more than a colleague — they had lost a brother and a steadfast companion. In their message they paid tribute to his presence onstage and off:
“It’s hard to find words when someone who was the heart and soul of our band is gone. We lost not just a keyboardist, but a brother, a support and a friend with whom we shared the best moments on stage and off it. Your fingers made magic on the keys, and your smile filled every room.”
“We will keep the memory of you forever. Rest in peace, our dear brother,” the grieving bandmates added.
Fans and acquaintances flooded social channels with condolences and messages of support for Ilić’s family in the hours after the accident. Organizers and fellow musicians also expressed sorrow at the loss of a young performer whose career had been growing across the neighbouring countries.
