Prof. Dr. Zoran Velkovski dies, noted educator and andragogy scholar
He died on September 8, 2026; a longtime professor at the Institute of Pedagogy who shaped adult education in North Macedonia and beyond.

The Faculty of Philosophy at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje announced with sorrow that Prof. Dr. Zoran Velkovski passed away on September 8, 2026. He served as a regular professor at the Institute of Pedagogy and was a well‑known figure in the field of education.
During a long academic career, Velkovski combined teaching with research and mentorship, educating generations of students and future professionals in pedagogy. His work focused particularly on adult education and andragogy, areas in which he had significant influence.
Academic contributions and international recognition
Prof. Velkovski authored and participated in numerous scientific papers, publications, research projects and institutional initiatives. His professional biography included leadership roles and active engagement in reforms and improvements to the education system.
Colleagues and the faculty highlighted that his contributions were not confined to North Macedonia but were also recognized internationally, helping to raise the profile of andragogy and adult learning debates regionally.
Reflecting on his death, the Faculty said: "The Faculty of Philosophy has lost a great professor and a great man. We express our deep condolences to the family. May he rest in peace."
Velkovski leaves behind a body of work, multiple projects and generations of students who studied under him, as well as colleagues in the academic community at home and abroad who remember his commitment to pedagogy and professional development.
