FIBA U16 European Championship Division B to begin in Skopje and Gevgelija

Organisers completed final preparations on the eve of the FIBA U16 European Championship — Division B, which starts in North Macedonia on 6 August 2026.

Technical meetings confirm details

On 5 August 2026, official technical meetings were held at the Belvi hotel in Skopje and the Princess hotel in Gevgelija with representatives from all 22 participating national teams. Tournament organisers used the sessions to finalise logistical and sporting arrangements ahead of the opening games.

With those meetings concluded, organisers say the preparations for the championship are officially finished and the event will run from 6 to 15 August 2026 in Skopje and Gevgelija.

North Macedonia is hosting a major European youth basketball event again, and the continent’s top cadet teams will compete for promotion to Division A.

Competition formats, schedules and team delegations were all settled during the technical briefings, leaving only the on-court action to determine which squads advance up the FIBA ladder.

The Division B tournament traditionally serves as a proving ground for emerging national teams and a pathway back to the top tier for those seeking promotion to Division A.
