Skopje police summon man who blocked Nerezi street and displayed Albanian flag

Police in Skopje have identified and summoned a man seen in video blocking a street in the Nerezi neighbourhood and holding an Albanian flag, officials said on October 8, 2026. The footage circulated on social media and prompted an investigation by local police.

Police: person summoned, measures taken under road-safety law

According to the police, the individual, identified only by initials as Sh.A., was called to the Skopje Police Department on October 8. "Today at the Skopje Police Department, the person Sh.A., owner of a passenger motor vehicle 'Ford' with Skopje license plates, was summoned regarding an incident from yesterday, when with the said vehicle he obstructed the normal flow of traffic at the intersection on Vasil Vojvoda Chakalarov Street in Skopje. The incident was also published on social networks," the police said.

Initial posts and the shared video showed a car blocking traffic in Nerezi while an Albanian flag was displayed; some early descriptions named the vehicle as a Volkswagen Golf, but police records refer to the owner of a Ford with Skopje plates.

Police added that, in accordance with the Law on Road Traffic Safety, appropriate measures have been taken against the person. No further details about charges, fines or whether the individual was detained were released.

Authorities said the case remains under review. Local residents and road users who witnessed the incident or who have footage have been asked to assist investigators by providing information to the police.
