Poland becomes the EU’s sixth‑largest economy in 2025
Eurostat data show Poland’s nominal GDP reached €922.9 billion in 2025, lifting it to sixth place among EU member states.
Poland has risen to become the European Union's sixth-largest economy by nominal gross domestic product (GDP) in 2025, Eurostat figures show, accounting for nearly 5 percent of the bloc's total economic output.
According to the statistics office, Poland's GDP at current prices reached €922.9 billion last year, representing a 4.9 percent share of the EU's combined economy.
Top of the EU ranking and Poland's regional position
Germany remains the EU's largest economy at €4.47 trillion. It is followed by France (€2.99 trillion), Italy (€2.26 trillion), Spain (€1.69 trillion) and the Netherlands (€1.17 trillion). Poland sits ahead of Belgium, Sweden, Ireland and Austria in the ranking.
Within Central and Eastern Europe, Poland is by far the largest economy. For comparison, Romania's GDP in 2025 stood at €380.1 billion, Czechia at €347.3 billion and Hungary at €218.8 billion.
Experts note that total GDP size does not automatically translate into higher living standards. Measured on a per‑capita basis, Poland remains below the EU average and continues the process of converging toward the income levels of the Union's wealthier members.
