Slavcho Poposki warns: cool mornings until Oct 7, then rain, thunder and strong wind for holiday weekend

Meteorologist Slavcho Poposki said the start of the coming week will bring mostly sunny days across North Macedonia, with cool mornings and fairly warm afternoons, but a shift to unsettled weather is expected before the long holiday weekend.

Temperatures, timing and the weekend turn

Poposki emphasized that nights and mornings will be calm and nearly windless at first, while daytime winds will be light to moderate from variable directions. "By Wednesday (October 7) mornings temperatures will drop to between -1 and 8 degrees, and in the Berovo region the morning temperature may be even lower. During the day temperatures will rise to between 21 and 28 degrees. In Skopje and surroundings, until Wednesday (October 7) the morning temperature will be relatively low and will drop to around 5 degrees, and during the day it will climb to around 27 degrees.

From Thursday (October 8) we will have more cloudiness over the Macedonian sky and mornings will be warmer. On Friday (October 9) and during the extended holiday weekend there will be local rain showers, locally torrential and accompanied by thunder and strong wind," he announced.

For Skopje specifically, Poposki reiterated that early mornings will remain relatively chilly while daytime highs should approach the upper twenties before the end of the week. The forecast pinpoints a clear transition: an autumn-like chill by midweek followed by convective activity and stronger winds from Friday onwards.

Authorities and travelers are advised to monitor updates as localized heavy showers and gusty winds can produce sudden changes in conditions, especially in the hilly eastern regions such as around Berovo where morning lows could drop below zero.
