Injuries and virus force RK Vardar 1961 to postpone second Regional League match

RK Vardar 1961 has officially postponed its second Regional Handball League fixture. The club announced the decision on August 24, 2026, after concluding it could not field a team for the scheduled away game.

The match between RK Dinamo Pančevo and RK Vardar 1961 was due to be played on 26 August (Wednesday) as part of the competition's second round, but the club requested a delay and the league approved it.

Reasons for the postponement

Vardar's statement says the club is facing a run of injuries combined with a virus that affected several players, circumstances that made travel to Pančevo impossible and left the squad unable to compete on the planned date.

In the club’s announcement Vardar wrote: "RK Vardar 1961 informs the handball public that, at our request, postponement of the match from the 2nd round of the Regional Handball League between the teams of RK Dinamo Pančevo and RK Vardar 1961, which according to the schedule was to be played on 26 August (Wednesday), has been accepted. This request follows a series of injuries and a virus that hit our team, and because of this we are unable to travel to Pančevo. We express our enormous gratitude to RK Dinamo Pančevo and the management of the Regional Handball League for the positive response to our request."

The league and the host club responded positively to Vardar's appeal, approving the postponement so the match can be rescheduled when Vardar's roster is healthy again.

No new date has been announced yet; both clubs and the league will coordinate to set a make-up date for the postponed fixture once Vardar confirms its availability.
