Wildfire near Morane: three Directorate for Protection and Rescue aircraft deployed
Three aircraft from the Directorate for Protection and Rescue are operating from the air to fight a forest fire near Morane; ground crews coordinate to protect residents and property.
Intense firefighting operations are underway near the village of Morane in the Studenichani municipality, the Center for Crisis Management (CCM) said. Authorities report active efforts to contain a forest fire that started in the area.
"Three aircraft of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue have been engaged in the extinguishing efforts, operating from the air in zones where ground intervention is impossible or too risky due to the difficult, inaccessible terrain," the CCM said.
Ground teams are working in constant coordination with all involved services, the CCM added, with the immediate goal of localizing the blaze and protecting residents and their property.
Operational challenges and tactics
According to the CCM statement, aerial firefighting is being used specifically in sectors where the landscape prevents safe or effective action by crews on foot or by vehicles. The aircraft focus on reaching and suppressing hotspots that ground crews cannot access.
Local and regional emergency units remain on alert and continue to monitor the situation. Authorities have not provided additional details about the fire's origin or the scale of the affected area while suppression work continues.
The CCM said operations will proceed until the fire is contained and all risks to people and property are eliminated, with teams maintaining coordination across air and ground assets.
