A large fire broke out late last night at a warehouse for ammunition and gunpowder belonging to the EMKO military plant in Bulgaria. The blaze began at about 23:20.

Local authorities said the fire consumed a single warehouse and that the incident included at least one explosion. Emergency services responded to the scene and carried out inspections of the surrounding area.

Municipal response and reassurances

Daniel Panov, mayor of Veliko Tarnovo Municipality, reported that there are no lingering fire hotspots within the municipality's territory after checks by firefighting teams. He urged residents to remain calm and not to spread panic.

Panov also said he is maintaining constant contact with neighbouring municipalities and local services as crews continue to monitor the site.

Officials reiterated that, so far, there is no danger to the population, and emergency teams remain on site to secure the area and assess any further risks.
