Large fire at illegal dump between Dabile and Petralinci
Strumica Territorial Firefighting Unit contained the blaze and urged residents not to create illegal dumps.

A large blaze broke out yesterday at an illegal waste site located between the villages of Dabile and Petralinci, authorities reported. Crews from the Strumica Territorial Firefighting Unit rushed to the scene to contain the flames and stop the fire from spreading to nearby fields and vegetation.
Firefighters said the site contained mixed household and bulky waste, and that smouldering and open burning released dense smoke and harmful substances into the air.
Emergency response and environmental concerns
The Strumica Territorial Firefighting Unit worked to isolate hotspots and prevent rekindling, while assessing risks to neighbouring settlements. No injuries were reported by the crews on site.
Officials warned that burning waste at uncontrolled dumps poses a serious risk to air quality and public health, because combustion of mixed refuse emits toxic gases and particulate matter that can aggravate respiratory conditions.
The firefighting unit called on residents to refrain from creating illegal dumps and to avoid burning trash, stressing that the environmental and health consequences of such fires can be severe and long-lasting.
