Waste fire behind Makpetrol pump in Tetovo extinguished
Waste from vehicles and tyres burned behind the Makpetrol pump; crews prevented spread to neighbouring fuel facilities and extinguished the blaze around 14:00.
A fire broke out at midday behind the Makpetrol gas pump on the eastern side of Tetovo, on the road leading out toward Skopje. Emergency crews from the Tetovo Fire Department found that waste from vehicles, including tyres, was burning at the scene.
Brisk intervention to protect neighbouring fuel facilities
Because the blaze was very close to an adjacent fuel pump, crews focused first on stopping the fire from spreading to nearby structures and fuel installations. According to commander Avni Ameti, all 25 firefighters on the daytime shift were called to the operation.
Trained firefighting personnel from Makpetrol's warehouse in Gostivar also joined the response, helping to contain and secure the perimeter.
Firefighters brought the main flames under control and by around 14:00 the fire was extinguished. Teams remained on site afterwards, concentrating on fully putting out the burned material and preventing any rekindling.
No injuries were reported in initial accounts, and operations focused on complete extinguishment and securing the area around the fuel pumps.
