Wildfire near Chiflik in Sopište extinguished, area to be monitored
Mayor Jane Micevski: the site will be monitored to prevent the fire from restarting

The wildfire that broke out this afternoon near the village of Chiflik in the Sopište municipality has been extinguished, Mayor Jane Micevski said. Teams will continue to monitor the area to prevent any renewed flare-ups.
Firefighting operation and resources
Crews from the Skopje fire department joined forces with the Directorate for Protection and Rescue (DPR), volunteer groups and local residents during the suppression effort. Authorities also deployed air assets after a portion of the blaze remained active on a steep slope moving toward Vodno.
The DPR also used a set of machinery locally referred to as "ert-tractors" to reach difficult terrain. Responders reported that the inhabited parts of Chiflik were not in danger and that a containment ring had been established to protect the surrounding forest.
Firefighters said the situation is now under control, but patrols and monitoring teams will remain on site over the coming hours to ensure no hotspots re-ignite. The operation included ground crews and support equipment described in local reports as four "pincgaueri" units.
No injuries or damage to residential buildings were reported during the incident. Officials thanked volunteer helpers and residents who assisted the crews during the response.
