Pretrial detention sought for four from Dobri Dol after wedding shooting
Prosecutors in Gostivar have charged four people after a wedding shooting on 31 July and asked a judge to order pretrial detention.
Four people from the village of Dobri Dol in the Vrapchishte municipality have been taken into custody after a wedding celebration where firearms were discharged into the air, and prosecutors in Gostivar have opened a case against them.
The incident took place on the night of 31 July in the yard of a family house, where the suspects used three pistols and one rifle of unknown make and calibre, firing rounds into the air and, prosecutors say, endangering the lives of a number of people who were at the celebration.
The action followed a criminal complaint filed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs; after receiving the report the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Gostivar launched a procedural investigation and identified four people from Dobri Dol as suspects in the offence of causing general danger.
Charges and pretrial detention request
According to the prosecutor's submission, there are circumstances that point to a risk of flight by each of the suspects. One of the four holds Slovenian citizenship in addition to Macedonian citizenship. For these reasons the prosecutor has submitted a proposal to the pretrial judge in Gostivar to order pretrial detention for the suspects.
The prosecutor's office said the procedural measures are ongoing and the court will decide on the detention request. The investigation into the events at the wedding continues.
