Referee halted the game for safety
The interruption happened in the 70th minute. Match officials stopped play so stewards could remove the pyrotechnic devices and assess the safety of players and spectators. The stoppage lasted about two minutes, after which the match resumed.

Palmeri wrote on social media: "UNBELIEVABLE IN ROTTERDAM! #FeyenoordInter halted for 2 minutes because after going 0-3 down Feyenoord fans shot flares from outside the stadium that landed burning on pitch and on roof https://t.co/8Oz76Ppbnx"
After a brief pause of around two minutes the referee gave the signal to continue, and the remainder of the match was played without further interruption.
