Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the emergency department of a hospital in Chania, on the island of Crete, after falling from his bicycle and suffering an arm injury and minor abrasions.
The accident occurred while Mitsotakis was cycling in the Chania area. Medical staff at the hospital provided first aid treatment and confirmed there was no cause for concern before he left the facility.
According to medical accounts, the prime minister lost his balance when the bicycle's front wheel slipped, which caused him to fall and sustain the injuries to his arm and superficial scrapes.
Following treatment in the emergency unit, Mitsotakis departed the hospital and continued with his regular schedule.
Mitsotakis was born and raised in Athens, but his family has deep roots in Chania on Crete. He is known to be an avid cyclist.
The incident did not result in any reported long-term harm and authorities did not indicate further follow-up measures were necessary.
