Pre-trial detention for woman accused of charging entry and attacking visitors at Kamenni Kukli

A court has ordered pre-trial detention for a 41-year-old woman from Kratovo, identified only by the initials S. D., after prosecutors said she physically attacked visitors and resisted police at the protected site known as Kamenni Kukli.

Authorities: continued usurpation and unlawful entry fees

The Basic Public Prosecutor's Office (OJO) in Kumanovo requested the detention measure after the woman was arrested on the afternoon of 2 August following reports that several visitors had been physically assaulted at the Kamenni Kukli locality in the Kratovo area.

Prosecutors say that despite prior measures, the suspect continued to usurp the site, unlawfully charging admission to visitors, arguing with them and making threats.

“During the latest incident, the suspect also committed actions constituting a criminal offense — obstructing an official in the performance of official duties under Article 382 paragraph 3 in connection with paragraphs 2 and 1 of the Criminal Code, that is, she physically attacked and prevented the police officers who attempted to identify and detain her,” the Prosecutor's Office said.

When proposing detention, the public prosecutor noted that S. D. is already subject to ongoing proceedings for usurpation of the Kamenni Kukli site and has been given precautionary measures, including a ban on visiting the location, which she has ignored. Prosecutors added that S. D., together with her husband, had previously obstructed officials in the performance of official duties.

“For these reasons, which indicate a risk of flight but also a clear tendency of the suspect to continue committing criminal acts, the public prosecutor submitted a proposal for detention to the judge of the preliminary procedure. The prosecutor’s proposal was accepted and the court issued the detention order,” OJO Kumanovo said.
