Motorcyclist from Gostivar detained after being clocked at 188 km/h on Gostivar–Tetovo highway
Detained rider was recorded at 188 km/h where the limit is 80 km/h; police say he faces a criminal investigation.
A 27-year-old motorcyclist from Gostivar was detained after police recorded him traveling at 188 km/h on a stretch of the Gostivar–Tetovo highway where the speed limit is 80 km/h, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) said.
The offense was recorded yesterday at 16:20 using a special police interceptor vehicle deployed on the highway.
Arrest and next steps
Police identified the rider as V.B. (27). "The driver V.B. (27) has been deprived of liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of reckless driving of a motor vehicle. Appropriate proceedings will follow," the police statement said.
The MIA added that traffic units will continue intensified controls with interceptor vehicles across the country to detect and sanction dangerous drivers and to improve road safety.
Authorities urged all road users to obey traffic rules and regulations, noting that inappropriate speed is one of the main causes of serious traffic accidents.
