Serbian national detained at Tabanovce after traffic system recorded 166 km/h

A Serbian national was detained at the Tabanovce border crossing after traffic surveillance recorded him driving at 166 km/h on a motorway where the limit is 80 km/h.

The Ministry of Interior reported that the 39-year-old M.P. was arrested while exiting the country at 16:00. Police checks on the motorcycle he was operating, which bore Serbian licence plates, linked him to a speeding incident recorded on 15 July this year.

Speeding recorded by the "Bezbeden grad" system

According to the ministry, the system known as "Bezbeden grad" registered M.P. on the Gevgelija–Demir Kapija motorway travelling at 166 km/h on a stretch with a maximum permitted speed of 80 km/h — more than twice the limit.

After the identification, he was escorted to and held at the Negotino Police Station. The Ministry said the public prosecutor has been notified and that a criminal complaint will be filed once the case is fully documented.

No further details about the man's identity beyond his initials or about possible penalties were released by police pending completion of the investigative and prosecutorial steps.
