M.M., 18, detained after brawl outside Jane Sandanski sports centre in Aerodrom
M.M., 18, was detained at 23:00 after a clash between rival supporter groups in front of the Jane Sandanski Sports Centre; one 16-year-old suffered serious injuries.
Police in Skopje reported that at 23:00 officers from the Skopje Police Department (SVR Skopje) detained M.M., an 18-year-old from Skopje, for his alleged role in a late-afternoon brawl in the Aerodrom neighbourhood.
The incident took place in front of the Jane Sandanski Sports Centre during a basketball match between KK "Skopje 2023" and KK "Rabotnički". Police say the confrontation involved supporters who were waiting to enter the game.
How police describe the clash
According to the report, M.M., identified as a member of the fan group "Femili Aerodrom", called for and took part in the fight. A group of about 30 supporters connected to "Femili" allegedly physically attacked around 50 supporters of KK "Rabotnički" while they waited to gain entry.
Authorities also reported that a 16-year-old from Skopje was taken to the Emergency Centre with serious bodily injuries and is receiving treatment.
Police said the 18-year-old was detained on suspicion of participating in the brawl; the investigation into the events at the sports centre is ongoing.
