Police say two 26-year-olds from Brest were arrested on August 8 and charged over a July 4 robbery in Ilinden.

Two arrested in Skopje over Ilinden robbery

Two men were detained in Skopje on August 8, 2026, in connection with a robbery that took place in the Ilinden neighbourhood in early July, authorities said.

Police from the Skopje Police Department – EVR Gazi Baba arrested Dž.A.(26) and A.A.(26), both from the village of Brest, Skopje, at 10:20 on 08.08.2026 on Jani Lukrovski street, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

Incident and victim

According to the police account, on the night of 4 July the two suspects attacked B.S.(28) from the village of Arachinovo, Skopje, with a wooden object and then, threatening him with a pistol, took money from him.

They have been formally charged with the criminal offence of "robbery" under Article 237 of the Criminal Code.

In coordination with a public prosecutor, charges were filed against the suspects and they were led before an investigating judge, who imposed precautionary measures.

The police statement did not provide further operational details; the case continues to be handled through the criminal justice process.
