Gostivar water issues: The filter station has been a municipal responsibility since 2014

The responsibility for the filter station at the Vrutok spring, which is crucial for Gostivar's water supply, has been in the hands of the local public enterprise for a full decade. This was emphasized by Minister Hoxha during today's press briefing, where he addressed the current drinking water issues in this city.

According to his statement, the capital project, which was financially supported by the Swiss Embassy, was finalized a long time ago. Construction work on this significant infrastructure facility began in 2011, while the complete realization was rounded off three years later.

"There is proper documentation and an official protocol that clearly confirms the handover of the facility. From that moment on, the complete management and maintenance was assigned to PUC 'Komunalec', which operates under the direct authority of the Municipality of Gostivar," Hoxha explained, responding to questions regarding the central government's reaction to the latest challenges with the water network.

With this statement, the government representative practically shifted the focus to the local authorities, pointing out that the state had long ago fulfilled its part of the obligations towards the citizens of Gostivar regarding this specific project.
