Access ban in Šar Mountain National Park extended until 30 September 2026

The Public Enterprise National Park Šar Planina announced on 31 August 2026 that the existing ban on movement within the park area has been extended until 30 September 2026.

Authorities said the decision responds to unfavourable weather conditions: high temperatures, prolonged dry weather and an increased risk of fires on open ground.

Purpose of the restriction

The measure is intended to prevent the outbreak and spread of wildfires, to protect natural habitats inside the park, and to safeguard the safety of visitors and staff.

Park management urged all citizens, visitors and tour operators to respect the ban and to follow directions issued by the competent institutions.

The extension affects all trails and recreation zones inside the national park; people are asked not to enter the territory until the ban is lifted on 30 September 2026.
