Nine migrants found near Bogorodica; two suspects detained
Seven migrants were discovered in a Škoda on October 11, 2026; two more were secured later and a 17-year-old was detained on October 12, 2026.

Two people suspected of migrant smuggling have been detained after nine migrants were found near the village of Bogorodica, authorities said. The first arrest took place on October 11, 2026 at 16:50, when police stopped a vehicle and discovered seven migrants inside.
Police from the Bogorodica Border Checks and Border Surveillance Police Station, part of the Regional Center for Border Police South, arrested B.K. (39) from Skopje after searching the Škoda with Skopje registration plates that he was driving. Of the seven people found in the car, five were from Afghanistan and two from Egypt.
Around 18:30 on October 11, 2026 officers located two additional migrants from Egypt who had been part of the same group but had not boarded the car at a spot known as Kravarski pat.
Subsequent detention and legal grounds
Because of a suspicion that a criminal offense under Article 418-B of the Criminal Code was committed, a 17-year-old Egyptian national with temporary residence in Greece was also deprived of his freedom on October 12, 2026 at 00:05. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the development.
The migrants were placed in the reception–transit center in Gevgelija, while B.K. and the 17-year-old are being held at a police station. The Ministry said that, once the case is fully documented, an appropriate criminal complaint will follow.
