Albanian national detained after eight migrants found near "Ostrovo" on Demir Kapija–Negotino road
P.M. (40) was detained after police found eight migrants, including two minors, in his Volkswagen Touran on 27.10.2026 at 12:35.
On 27.10.2026 at 12:35, police stopped a vehicle on the regional road between Demir Kapija and Negotino, near a locality known as "Ostrovo", and detained a 40-year-old Albanian national identified as P.M. (40).
Officers from the Border Surveillance Police Station Mihajlovo at the Regional Center for Border Police South carried out the control and found eight migrant passengers in the Volkswagen Touran driven by P.M., including two who were minors. According to their statements, the migrants were from Afghanistan.
Immediate steps after the stop
P.M. was held at the Negotino Police Station pending further procedure. The eight migrants were transported to the reception-transit centre in Gevgelija for identification and care.
The vehicle was described as a Volkswagen Touran with Albanian national plates. Police said the discovery was made during routine border surveillance activity on the Demir Kapija–Negotino route.
Authorities stated that once the investigation is fully documented, appropriate charges will be lodged against P.M. The case remains under police procedure.
