Protests in Tirana demand Edi Rama's resignation

Protests in Tirana have entered their fourth week as demonstrators press a single demand: the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. Protesters accuse the government of corruption and say they will not leave the streets until their call is met.

Organizers and participants say the movement is driven largely by a younger generation frustrated with political conduct and lack of accountability. They have maintained daily gatherings in central Tirana despite repeated appeals from the prime minister for calm.

Edi Rama has repeatedly invited opposition groups and activists to open dialogue and has urged a reduction of tensions. Protest leaders, however, have rejected those requests and insist that only Rama's departure will satisfy the demonstrators.

The standoff has deepened Albania's political crisis, increasing uncertainty about the government's stability and its near-term future. Streets remain occupied and the situation shows no immediate signs of resolution.
