Detentions after group attack on 13-year-old in Vlae; two teeth broken with knuckleduster

First detentions have been made after a violent group assault in Vlae left a 13-year-old boy seriously injured and with two broken teeth, authorities said.

The attack took place at Delfina square in Vlae around 00:30 between Saturday and Sunday. The boy's mother reported the incident to the police the next day after she took her son to doctors for treatment.

Police: report filed on 18.10.2026

The Ministry of Interior (MVR) said: "On 18.10.2026 at 15:30 in the Skopje Police Department (S.V.R. Skopje) a 39-year-old woman reported that around 00:30 in the Vlae area her minor son was physically attacked by a group of minors, some of whom he knew, and that a hard object was also used. Measures are being taken to clarify the case."

So far three minors have been summoned for questioning together with their parents, and three more will be called as suspects in the criminal investigation for group physical assault, the police confirmed.

The boy was reportedly singled out by the group and beaten. His mother said at least fifteen children took part, and that an assailant used a knuckleduster which broke two of her son's teeth. Doctors referred the child for further examinations in radiology, neurosurgery and maxillofacial surgery.

The mother described how her son first hid because he was afraid the attackers would strike him again if the incident was reported. She said the group shouted at him and pushed him in a circle, treating him "like a ball passed from one to another," until several jumped on him and one began striking him with fists. She added: "The worst thing is that a knuckleduster was used."

Authorities say the case is under active investigation. Police officials have not yet provided identities of the minors involved. The assault in Vlae is the latest in a series of incidents this month in which both victims and attackers were underage — recent events included a schoolyard attack near Bit Pazar, an assault in Gjorche Petrov earlier this month, and a stabbing of another 13-year-old in Chair who later died after a month-long fight for his life.
