Paris Saint‑Germain sign France defender Lucas Digne
Left-back Lucas Digne returns to Paris on a contract through summer 2029 after a €7–8 million move from Aston Villa.
Paris Saint-Germain completed the signing of France international Lucas Digne (33) on August 9, 2026, bringing the left-back back to the club where he played between 2013 and 2016. The deal takes Digne from Aston Villa to the French and European champions on a contract running until the summer of 2029.
Transfer details and background
The transfer was activated through a release clause in Digne's Aston Villa contract; the move is reported to be worth between €7,000,000 and €8,000,000. Although Digne still had two years remaining on his Villa deal, the clause allowed for an exit and the player himself expressed a desire to return to Paris.
Last season Digne was a regular in Aston Villa's line-up, making 32 Premier League appearances. In European competition he featured in 11 Europa League matches as Villa reached the final, playing in that decisive game.
At international level Digne appeared six times for France at the World Cup, starting in the semifinal defeat by Spain and missing only two group-stage fixtures.
In Paris, Digne will face competition at left-back from Portugal international Nuno Mendes, who was PSG's first-choice option at that position last season.
