Shooting at state university in Virginia injures five; one critically

A shooting at a state university in Virginia injured at least five people, one of whom is in critical condition, university and police officials said.
The incident involving multiple people happened shortly after midnight, at 1:28 a.m. local time, near the student housing complex known as the Quad Annexes.
Victims taken to local hospitals; investigation ongoing
All wounded were immediately transported to nearby hospitals. Officials reported that, aside from the individual in life-threatening condition, the other four sustained relatively minor injuries.
Local police and the university have opened an investigation to determine the motives behind the shooting and to identify all participants involved in the incident.
Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and have not released further details about suspects or any arrests at this time.
