Putin: Russia has enough troops, no need for new mobilization

Russian President Vladimir Putin said today there is no scenario that would force Moscow to declare a new mobilization for the war in Ukraine, arguing that the country does not have problems with the availability of military personnel.

Leader rejects talk of fresh conscription

Putin told reporters that Russian armed forces currently have sufficient personnel and that authorities see no need to resort to fresh mass conscription. He framed the issue as settled, saying a new mobilization is not required under present circumstances.

Earlier this week the president already rejected rumours that one would be announced, describing them as "complete nonsense" and "an information attack."

The comments come amid continuing international attention to Russia's military campaign in Ukraine, where questions about troop levels and recruitment have repeatedly surfaced in public debate.

Putin's statement did not include a timetable or further operational details; he limited his remarks to denying the necessity of another mobilization and dismissing the rumours that had been circulating.
