Clean-up action in Dexion clears litter and refurbishes benches
Municipality teams and partners cleared rubbish, repaired benches and announced planting of donated saplings in October.
Today a joint clean-up action took place in the Dexion neighbourhood, focused on the area around the children’s playground next to a new kindergarten that is currently under construction.
Under the initiative titled "Clean up session", volunteers and municipal crews cleared litter from the site and carried out repairs of the existing benches. Officials from the Municipality of Gjorche Petrov said further work will include replacing rubbish bins, renovating playground equipment and removing remaining branches and debris from the location.
Community partners and next steps
The activity was organised by the Municipality of Gjorche Petrov in cooperation with the Center for Climate Change and included participation from representatives and activists of JZU Geriatrics, Primary School "Gjorche Petrov", socially responsible companies, the municipal communal unit and municipal administration employees.
Municipal authorities said new seedlings — donated by the Center for Climate Change valued at 9.000 denari — will be planted at the site during October, enriching the green space around the playground.
The campaign aims to return the area to its original purpose — a safe, clean and tidy place for children to play and for residents to spend time — and to raise public awareness about the importance of a clean environment and responsible use of public spaces.
First-grade pupils in Butel and in Gjorche Petrov will also receive free backpacks as part of related municipal initiatives.
