Hand grenade exploded in front of a building in Zvezdara, Belgrade — vehicles and local businesses damaged
The early-morning explosion caused major material damage, but there are no injuries; the police and the prosecutor's office are searching for the perpetrator.
Early this morning at around 3:00 a strong explosion shook the Zvezdara neighborhood in Belgrade after an unknown person threw an explosive device in front of a residential building.
According to initial information from the scene, it is most likely an M-75 hand grenade. The detonation occurred in front of the building where a person with the initials A.O. (24) lives.
In a conversation with the police, A.O. stated that he suspects the device was intended for him and that it had been thrown toward his terrace. As he said, the device bounced off the terrace and fell onto the sidewalk among the parked vehicles, where it exploded.
Major material damage, no injuries
Three parked vehicles were damaged by the strong detonation, the shop windows of nearby businesses were shattered, and there are visible damages to the facade and the entrance door of the adjacent building. There were no injured persons in the explosion.
The police reported that A.O. had previously been recorded in police records and had been convicted, and he told investigators that about a month ago his car had been set on fire and that he believes he is again the target of the same attackers.
The police and the competent public prosecutor's office are working intensively to clarify all circumstances and to identify and find the person who threw the grenade.
