Rafinha leaves Brazil camp and returns to Barcelona after muscle injury
The midfielder scored in Brazil’s 4:2 win over Australia but will miss the October 3 trip to India due to a muscle problem.
Rafinha has left Brazil's national team camp and returned to Barcelona after sustaining a muscle injury, the club confirmed on the eve of Brazil’s next friendly.
Rafinha to miss India friendly on October 3
The Brazilian midfielder featured in the friendly against Australia, a match Brazil won 4:2, during which he scored one of the goals. Shortly after the game he reported a muscle problem and was withdrawn from the squad.
Medical checks in the national team set-up identified a muscle issue that prevents him from travelling to India for the October 3 fixture, which Brazil will play away.
Barcelona has taken him back for further assessment and treatment. The club and national team both described the injury as not serious and expect Rafinha to return to training in the near future.
The player’s absence means he will miss the trip to India, but both sides expressed optimism that this will be a short-term setback and that he will be available again once he completes his recovery.
