Ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv kill nine, including four children
Dozens of ballistic missiles hit multiple districts overnight; fires and damage reported across the capital.
At least nine people were killed and 28 others wounded, including four children, after a new overnight barrage of Russian ballistic missiles struck Kyiv, Ukrainian emergency services said.
“Nine people were killed and 28 injured, including four children, after a Russian ballistic missile attack. Fires and damage were reported in five districts of the capital,” Ukrainian emergency services wrote on Telegram.
Widespread damage across multiple districts
Officials reported fires and structural damage across five separate districts of the city. Two people died after a five‑storey residential building caught fire, authorities said, and emergency crews worked through the night to extinguish blazes and search damaged apartment blocks.
In the Darnytskyi district, where seven victims were reported, responders continued clearing debris and documenting damage. A reporter at the scene heard several series of explosions that triggered car alarms on nearby streets, and photographs showing heavy damage to residential buildings circulated on social media.
Ukraine’s accounts put the attack down to multiple ballistic missiles. “Russia killed nine people and injured 28 more, including four children, in Kyiv overnight. It was a massive attack involving dozens of ballistic missiles. Civilian infrastructure was heavily damaged across multiple districts of the city,” wrote Anton Gerashchenko on social media.
Authorities have not released a full, final toll and emergency services warned the figures could change as rescue teams continue to work. Hospitals in Kyiv reported receiving dozens of the injured, while firefighters and municipal services focused on stabilizing damaged structures and preventing further fires.
