Nikola Markoski retires; federation honours him with framed jersey

Nikola Markoski brought down the curtain on his international playing career on 4 November 2026, and the occasion was marked before North Macedonia's match against Luxembourg. The national side's long-serving left back received public recognition for his years in the shirt.

Before the game, the Macedonian Handball Federation staged a brief ceremony. Federation president Aleksandar Stefanov presented Markoski with a framed national jersey as a token of gratitude for his long service to the team.

Career and clubs

Markoski finished his club career at Alkaloid. During his playing years he also represented RK Vardar, RK Metalurg and Eurofarm Pelister, building a reputation as a steady presence in both domestic competitions and on the international stage.

The farewell at the match with Luxembourg offered teammates, staff and fans a clear moment to salute a player who carried the national colours for many seasons. The gesture by the federation was short but symbolic, and it closed the chapter on Markoski's time with the national team.

There were no further announcements about Markoski's plans after retirement at the ceremony; the event focused on thanking him for his contributions on behalf of the federation and the squad.
