Rama says Albania will protect airspace during NATO summit with domestically made 'super intelligent' drones
Prime Minister announced purchase of an advanced air-defence system and delivery of 40 tactical vehicles made by Timak with state partner KAJO.
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that the country will deploy domestically produced intelligent drones to protect the airspace during next year’s NATO summit in Tirana.
Rama also said the government has ordered an advanced air-defence system that is expected to arrive in Albania soon.
In a vivid formulation he told reporters: "As we promised, the defence of the sky for the NATO summit, where the President of the United States, Donald Trump, will also be present, will be defended from the sky and from the Earth and from Mars and from the Moon, it will be carried out with super intelligent drones produced here in Albania," Rama said.
Recent deliveries to the armed forces
Separately, the prime minister noted that the Albanian army yesterday received 40 tactical vehicles produced by the Albanian company Timak in partnership with the state company KAJO.
Rama presented the measures as part of a broader security preparation ahead of the gathering of NATO leaders in Tirana, while underlining the role of local defence industry in the planned deployments.
Officials gave no further technical details about the drones or the timetable for the air-defence system's arrival.
