Rami Kuci arrested in Kosovo, first suspect in Dukanjik killing
Kosovo police detained the first suspect in the September 6 shooting in Skopje; investigators say a second man is still at large.
Rami Kuci was arrested in Kosovo today as the prime suspect in the fatal shooting that left 26-year-old A.M. dead on 6 September in the Skopje neighbourhood of Dukanjik. Kosovo police detained Kuci during an international operation targeting illegal drug trafficking on Kosovo territory.
Warrants and an ongoing manhunt
Authorities had issued both a central and an international warrant for Kuci. Investigators say a second suspect, identified only by the initials I.S., remains at large and is still being sought by police.
The violent episode occurred on the evening of 6 September in Dukanjik, when Kuci and I.S. are suspected of opening fire on a group of people. The 26-year-old A.M. was killed in the exchange of gunfire and several other individuals suffered injuries.
The Ministry of Interior (MVR) has filed criminal charges against two people in connection with the murder in Dukanjik; both defendants remain on the run, according to official filings. Investigations into the case are continuing.
Officials in Kosovo and North Macedonia cooperated in the cross-border move that led to Kuci's arrest, which came as part of broader efforts to disrupt illegal drug networks in the region.
