Sergio Ramos linked with Getafe after year without a club
Getafe's president says he has been contacted by Ramos' representatives but stresses the club is not prioritising the signing; January remains possible.

Sergio Ramos is being linked with a return to La Liga and a move to Getafe, where he would reunite with another former Real Madrid teammate, Dani Carvajal. Getafe president Ángel Torres confirmed he has held talks with Ramos' representatives, but stressed that signing the veteran defender is not currently the club's top priority.
Torres spoke about the possible transfer on the radio programme Tablero Deportivo on Radio Nacional de España. He said the player's agent, who is also his brother, has been in contact with him and that Ramos remains on a list of potential reinforcements.
"His agent, who is also his brother, spoke with me. We have six centre-backs and that is not a position the coach is currently looking to strengthen. Ramos is on the list of potential signings," Torres said. "He could come — we've been working on that for a long time, but it is not a priority for us," the Getafe president added, noting the move could still be completed in the winter transfer window.
From Real captain to free agent
Getafe surprised observers on 13 October by announcing the signing of Dani Carvajal, the long-serving right-back from Real Madrid, on a contract running until the end of June 2027. Carvajal spent 2013–2026 with Real, winning multiple Champions League and Club World Cup titles and was part of Spain's squad that won the 2024 European Championship.
Ramos began his career at Sevilla and moved to Real Madrid in 2005, where he spent 16 years as a leading figure and captain. He made 671 official appearances for Real, scored 101 goals and collected 22 trophies, including four Champions League titles and five La Liga championships. Internationally he won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championships in 2008 and 2012, earning 180 caps — the most in Spain's history.
After leaving Real in 2021, Ramos had spells at Paris Saint-Germain and returned to Sevilla in 2023, then joined Monterrey in February 2025. He played 34 matches and scored eight goals for the Mexican side before that cooperation ended in December 2025. Currently without a club, Ramos will turn 41 in March 2027 and appears intent on continuing his playing career; a move to Getafe would bring him back to Spanish top-flight football and alongside his former teammate Carvajal. Getafe sit 14th in La Liga after eight rounds with eight points and are also competing in the 2026/27 Conference League.
