Ratko Mladić to be buried beside his daughter at Topčider

The body of Ratko Mladić has arrived in Belgrade on a plane from The Hague, and public commemorations are scheduled for Saturday, 5 September 2026 at the House of the Army in Belgrade.

Funeral to be held at Topčider cemetery

The burial will take place on Monday, 7 September 2026 at the Topčider cemetery. Mladić's expressed wish was to be laid to rest next to his daughter, Ana Mladić.

Ratko Mladić, the former commander of the Army of the Republika Srpska, died on 27 August 2026 at the age of 84.

He died while detained in the United Nations detention unit in Scheveningen, where he was serving a final life sentence for war crimes, including the genocide in Srebrenica. His death followed a serious deterioration in his health and several strokes.

Ana Mladić took her own life with Mladić's pistol at the family home in Belgrade in March 1994; she was 24 years old.
