Newly promoted Hull beat Manchester United 2-0 in the Premier League opener, with both goals coming in the first half.

Newly promoted Hull stunned Manchester United with a 2-0 victory in the opening round of the Premier League season, handing United a disappointing start under Michael Carrick.
Key moments decided the game in the first half
In the 17th minute Lamens blocked an excellent strike from Oliver McBurnie, but from the subsequent corner Semi Ajayi headed home to give Hull the lead. The goal set the tone for a match that United struggled to influence.
Manchester United tried to respond through Mbeumo and Dorgu, but both chances were off target and the visitors could not find a way back into the game before halftime.
Hull doubled their advantage before the break when Nobel Mendy met a cross with a headed finish to make it 2-0, a scoreline that ultimately proved decisive.
The second half offered no recovery for United, who produced a flat performance and failed to create meaningful opportunities to overturn the deficit.
Hull leave the opening weekend with their first three Premier League points; Manchester United must regroup after a sobering start to the campaign.
