Real Madrid and Mourinho already ‘halfway’ there — 76.9% chance to reach last 16
A supercomputer gives Real Madrid a 76.9% probability to finish among the top eight after two wins, including a 4-3 comeback at Roma.

Real Madrid strengthened their position in the Champions League after a dramatic 4-3 comeback against Roma and back-to-back wins in the group. The results have pushed Jose Mourinho's side to an advantageous starting point in the race for direct qualification to the last 16.
Supercomputer projection gives Real a strong edge
Statistical projections produced by a supercomputer put Real Madrid at a 76.9 percent probability of finishing among the top eight teams and qualifying directly for the round of 16. The Madrid side collected the maximum six points from matches with Inter Milan and Roma, setting up a favourable early position in the group.
After the victory in Rome Mourinho said: "the six points won represent half of the journey to securing the next phase." He added a warning that the competition remains far from decided and that the team must keep accumulating points.
While the projection does not guarantee a final place, the current statistical picture favours Real Madrid and underlines how important the opening fixtures have been for their chances.
Real now head into the rest of the group stage with momentum, but the club and its supporters know several tough matches remain before qualification is assured.
