Mickoski: opening of Stiv Naumov on Sept 30; about €45 million from AA programme allocated for school renovations
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski announced that the renovated student dormitory Stiv Naumov in Skopje will be officially opened on September 30, 2026. He said the work on the building has concluded and invited journalists to attend the opening to see the upgraded living conditions for students.
Funds and next projects
Mickoski added that work on the second dormitory, Kuzman, is expected to be completed in the near term. "Very soon the second student dormitory 'Kuzman' will also be ready, but all student and boarding schools will be included in a process of reconstruction and renewal, something that has not been done for decades," Mickoski said.
He also reported that roughly €45 million have been secured through the AA programme, via a project to decentralise funds from the central budget to municipalities. According to the announcement, those funds will be earmarked for renovation and improvement of conditions in primary and secondary schools across the country.
The prime minister urged media representatives to attend the inauguration at the Stiv Naumov dormitory on September 30 and to inspect the new facilities first-hand. Officials expect the works on Kuzman and other student and pupil homes to continue in the coming months.
The government frames the renovations as part of a wider push to upgrade educational infrastructure after decades without comprehensive investment in student and pupil residences.
